Hey, since we grew up there...my dad as some great ideas for places that are close, but less expensive than west seattle...it's almost worse than what huntington beach used to be. it hasn't fallen much in this economy. just have fred call him...living there for 20 years and working in seattle, i think he can help. so glad that you love the science center, dido on the childhood memories- I love that place! and pike market! i miss that city! maddie is super cute. so happy for you!
